Cherubim Ragdolls, previously known as Ragdoll-New Traits, are a recognized variant within the Ragdoll breed, distinguished by their full-body color and a wider variety of eye and coat colors compared to traditional blue-eyed, pointed Ragdolls. They include mink, sepia, and solid coat colors. TICA (The International Cat Association) officially recognized this group as Cherubim (Ragdolls) and they became eligible for championship status in May 2025.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Key Differences from Traditional Ragdolls:
  • While traditional Ragdolls exclusively have blue eyes, Cherubim Ragdolls can have a range of eye colors beyond blue, including aqua, gold & green

  • Previously, Ragdoll-New Traits (as Cherubim were then known) were not allowed to compete for championship status. TICA has now recognized them as a breed group, allowing them to compete.

  • Traditional Ragdolls are pointed, meaning their face, ears, feet, and tail are darker than their body, and they have blue eyes. Cherubim Ragdolls, however, have full-body color in shades like seal, blue, chocolate, lilac, cinnamon & Fawn with varying eye colors including aqua, gold and green.

Key Similarities to Traditional Ragdolls:
  • Breed Group:
They are still part of the Ragdoll breed group and share the same body and head type as traditional Ragdolls.

  • Temperament:
Cherubim Ragdolls are known for their large size, affectionate nature, and gentle temperament, just like traditional Ragdolls.
  • Origin:
They share the same lineage as traditional Ragdolls, tracing back to Ann Baker's original breeding program.

In essence, the Cherubim is a Ragdoll with a broader range of colors and eye colors while retaining the breed's signature temperament and physical characteristics
